数词－－单位词的用法.

单位词( partitives )是可数名词,

用来表示事物的数量.

大体有以下几类:A.

表示“个数”的词.

个、台、面、辆、匹、只、块、点.

例:a piece of bread (一块面包),

a bit of advice (一点建议).

B.

以形状表示个数的单位词.

条、滴、片.

例:a bar of chocolate (一条巧克力),

a slice of meat (一片肉).

C.

表示大小、距离、面积、体积和重量的词.

寸、米、尺、千克、克拉、吨.

例:an inch of cloth(一寸布),

a ton of coal (一吨煤).

D.

表示容器的词.

瓶、盒、杯、箱、桶、罐.

例:a bottle of ink(一瓶墨水),

a bucket of water (一桶水).

E.

表示成双、成组、成群的单位词.

群、双、束.

例:a pair of trousers(一条裤子)、a bundle of flowers(一束花),

a flock of birds (一群鸟).

F.

表示事物中的一部分的词.

部分.

例:a part of Asia(亚洲的一部分),

a portion of the food(一部分食品).

常见的结构有:“ a + 单位词(单数)+of + 名词”和“ 单位词(复数)+of +名词”.

这种结构中的名词可能是可数名词,

也可能是不可数名词.

而和它连用的动词的数则取决于单位词的数.

例:A portion of the contract deals with the walnut.

这个合同的一部分涉及核桃.

(contract 是单数可数名词.

)Several crates of oranges were sent from America to China.

几箱橘子从美国运到中国.

(oranges 是复数可数名词.

)A drop of blood was found on the ground.

地上发现了一滴血.

(blood是不可数名词.

)Drops of blood were found on the ground.

地上发现了几滴血.
