To ensure education quality, high schools often have various requirements on teachers. Among all criteria that a teacher has to meet, most schools would stress the importance of teachers’ capability of guiding students to make plan for their future, offering specific supports to students who need help, and motivating students to learn on their own. In my opinion, the last one must be the most essential one that a teacher should be good at.
To start with, in consideration of the limited time in class, teachers should be aware of the necessity for students to do more practice after class. For most subjects, students take the course once or twice a week. Teachers need to make good use of the time to finish their teaching plans, like introducing a new terminology, explaining a complex concept, and demonstrating an interesting experiment. There is actually little time left for students to practice on their own which is significant for them to absorb knowledge. Therefore, teachers usually choose to assign homework. There is no exaggeration to say that a student’s academic performance to a large extend depends on his efforts made in doing homework. In a word, whether the homework a teacher assigns can encourage students to study on their own after class is of great importance.
Secondly, it is even better if a teacher is able to inspire students to do more researches and explore the field according to their interests. Normally, most schools merely require teachers to cover the content in textbooks and help students prepare standard tests, which only makes students to become mediocre. However, an outstanding teacher who aims at helping students explore potential and strive for excellence ought to encourage students to further expand their outlook and conduct in depth study. Students who are internally charged to work hard on a subject are able to acquire knowledge beyond what a teacher conveys in class. For example, a literature teacher may just have time to introduce one novel of a famous writer in detail, but his teaching will be more successful if he can inspire students to read more books of this writer or of others in the same era.
Admittedly, it is also important for teachers to help students plan their future and give a hand to students who need help. With a clear goal, students will become more motivated and more willing to make efforts. Also, it is a teacher’s duty to guarantee that all students have a successful high school life. A teacher’s failure to find those in difficulties may have little impact on his evaluation but may completely ruin those students’ study in high school. However, when a teacher is able to motivate students to even make more efforts after class, students will have satisfied or excellent academic performance which enables them to make future plans and overcome difficulties in study on their own.
To sum up, a successful teacher should possess a variety of qualities, including the ability to give students advices on future development, to find students’ special needs, to motivate students work hard after class. For all those requirements, the last one is especially important, as it helps students to become self-driven and hence capable of solving most problems in study on their own.

For people of different age and background, the definition of success varies greatly. Commonly, to achieve success means to attain desired aims or to obtain prosperity and popularity. However, the road towards success is usually paved by twists and turns and many people cannot reach the end. Given the vicissitude of life, it is more important for people to keep optimistic and happy even when they are confronted with hardship and failure.
Admittedly, people who work hard and aim at success deserve respect and encouragement. Driven by the fame and profits brought by success, people are willing to invest in more time and energy, so as to accumulate knowledge and skills that are necessary for them to be competitive. It is their efforts and dedication that promote development and advancement in almost every field. However, not all people are lucky enough to be successful in the end no matter how much they pay and how much pain they endure. Or simply, the cost of success exceeds the so-called rewards that success can offer. Therefore, to learn how to maintain optimism under whatever circumstances is essential for one’s happiness in life.
To begin with, optimistic people stand more chances to get through hard time. Unavoidably, people will experience countless obstacles and barriers while striving for their dreams. Owing to the frustration caused by troubles, people may temporarily lose their minds. Consequently, there come wrong judgments and wrong decisions that lead people to wrong directions. However at this moment, optimism allows people to keep their minds clear. With hope in minds, people will gradually calm down, start to analyze current situation, and try to find solutions. For instance, when a lawyer fails to help his client to win trust from the judge and the jury in the court, frustration and depression does not work. He needs optimism and confidence to find more evidences and prepare for the next court session.
Secondly, to keep optimistic is vital for people to accept the fact of failure, willingly or unwillingly. We live in a society that people attach too much importance to success and ignore common people who also deserve attention and respect. This is more than true when we have a glance to the reports of famous businessmen, political leaders, actors who dominate the mass media all the time. However, not all people are lucky enough to become social elites and in fact, the majority of people have to face failure. This is why people desire success and why the experience of failure is full of bitterness. At this moment, it is even more significant for people to maintain optimism that enables them to be brave and admit that they fail. Actually, this requires more courage. Only in this way can people cheer up and build up confidence to start a new life.
To sum up, while all people aim at success, we cannot overlook the importance of keeping optimistic and happy that enables us to get through hard time and confront failure.

A university is considering requiring students to take public speaking class, no matter what field they study. Do you agree or disagree?
范文:
Thanks to the expansion of education, a growing number of youngsters today obtain higher education that equips them with necessary knowledge and skills to achieve their personal ambition. To improve education quality, some universities plan to set public speaking as a compulsory course for all students regardless their major. In my mind, this decision can hardly be welcomed by both students and teachers.
Admittedly, the ability to make an eloquent public speech is desirable for a young person to achieve success in many fields. Undoubtedly, there are many occasions under which people need to speak in front of many people. For students, teachers of many subjects require them to do presentation with specific themes in front of the class and give grades according to their performance. For adults, giving presentation to the boss or clients is an important part of their work. An impressive report or proposal may be followed by promotion or business contracts.
However, no matter how important public speaking skill is, it is not indispensable for all students. There are students who have neither interests nor willingness to train themselves as public speakers. Students who feel unconfident of speaking in front of people actually have other roles to play in a group, such as collecting information, preparing PowerPoint and writing reports. All these are essential for a successful presentation and will be valued by audiences and assessors. Also, there are many jobs that do not require employees’ to possess public speaking skill, like computer programers and engineers. What they need is professional knowledge and problem solving skills. Thus, it is unwise for universities to force all students to take public speaking courses.
Furthermore, public speaking, when it becomes a compulsory course, will arouse resentment among both students and teachers. Students who see no value of this course will not take it serious but regard it as a burden. When the mere goal is to pass the exam and get the credit, it is almost unlikely for students to make much effort. From the perspective of teachers, with all students required to take public speaking class, there will be geometric growth of workload. The even worse part will be students’ negative attitudes. With too many classes filled with students who have no interests in what they teach on the rostrum, those poor teachers will start to doubt the value of their courses.
To sum up, although public speaking is a desirable skill for many students, it is unnecessary to set it as a compulsory course. Otherwise, the university that expects to help students acquire such skill will be disappointed and end up with bothering both students and teachers.

范文:
In the last a few decades, people’s requirements on food have experienced a series of changes. When the problem of food scarcity has been solved, people are on the way to improve the taste, such as by innovating cooking method. But today, a new problem associated with food emerges: the decline of quality.
To begin with, as we are accustomed to the mass production of food and believe in its benefits of feeding large population, we cannot overlook the fact that some of the food we have today is actually not as nutritious as before. To meet the huge demand of food, scientists and food producers, including farmers and factories, have adopted a series of scientific methods to boost output, such as widely applying fertilizers in fields and raising large numbers of livestocks in cages. Though the benefits are undeniable, the products actually contain fewer nutrients due to the factitious changes of their natural growth. With shortened lifecycle, both crops and livestocks have not enough time to accumulate nutrients. Therefore, wealthy people today would like to pay a higher price for so-called organic food, food produced in natural ways, which actually is what all people had in the past.
Secondly, pollution is another factor influencing food quality. The rapid industrial development has generated pollution of different degrees in many areas and regions around the world. Pollution knows no boundary: the uncontrollable movement of water and wind carries pollutants worldwide. For instance, the burning of coals containing high percentage of sulphur in one place releases sulphide and cause acid rains in a much larger areas. Continuously, the contaminated rains pollute soils that they fall on and rivers that they flow into. Unavoidably, many plants and animals living in a contaminated environment contain more or less elements harmful to people’s health. Currently, one of the most seriously affected sources of food is seafood, mainly due to the discharge of sewage along the coast. As a result, many kinds of heavy metals deposited in fish, shrimps, crabs and oysters are taken by people. All these are hidden threats to people’s health. The alarming problem of food contamination makes people recall the old time when there was no pollution.
To sum up, although the constantly improving of living standards may convince us that we have better food today than in the past, there are in fact new concerns on food quality: less nutrition but more pollution.

For people living in big cities, the constant increase of living expenses is a real headache, especially when it exceeds the growth of salaries. Therefore, to avoid financial crisis, people need to sort out ways to reduce living costs, such as finding a roommate, buying fewer electronic products and cooking at home. In my opinion, to reduce the expenditure on digital devices is a better option.
Firstly, new technology products are usually very expensive but contribute little to one’s happiness. It is true that a newly launched electronic product usually has better performance and more advanced function that facilitate people’s life and bring user friendly experience. Depending on their cutting-edged technology, companies charge a high price. However, before we make the order, it is worth thinking twice whether the so-called updated functions are indispensable. In fact, for various kinds of electronic products, they share the similar functions. It is unnecessary to waste much money on a piece of product only with slight improvement or difference. Take products of Apple as an instance. If it is not because the old iPhone 7 is lost or broken, to buy a new iPhone 8 is almost meaningless for people who are not keen on its more durable glass body and better OLED display.
Secondly, both to find a roommate and to cook at home are not feasible. For a person who gets used to live alone, to have a stranger living under the same roof is inconvenient and uncomfortable. It means one not only has to clean and reserve certain area for the new roommate, but also may have to sacrifice privacy. Moreover, it takes time to find someone who is easygoing and shares similar lifestyle. Whether the two can get along well with each is also a problem. To buy cheap food and cook at home is not a good option, as it is time consuming. When most of the time is occupied by work, people feel exhausted to shop, cook and do dishes back home, especially if one is not good at cooking. Furthermore, people cannot save much money from cooking at home when the cost of time, natural gas, electricity is added.
In summary, for above mentioned three methods to reduce living expenses, I highly recommend the friend to buy fewer electronic products, instead of sharing the house with a roommate or cooking at home.

One day after work last month, I had to climb stairs to the sixth floor, as the elevator of the building broke down. I clearly remembered how tired and breathless I was when I finally arrived at home. This experience reminds me the importance of exercises in keeping healthy and the necessity to increase the amount of exercises.
In the first place, the lack of exercises is the direct factor that contributes to the worsening of health condition. Under great pressure of work, I almost spend most of my time in the office and get used to work overtime. Arriving at home, I usually feel too tired to cook, let along doing exercises. The entertainment after work and during weekends seems only watching television, surfing on the Internet, or chatting with friends on the phone. The busy schedule of work squeezes my time of doing sports and contributes to the firming of my sedentary lifestyle. As a result, I become increasingly reluctant to do sports and avoid activities that need body strength. It is not surprising that both the health condition and stamina declines.
In the second place, to increase the amount of sports daily is an easy task. The simplest but most effective approach is to take a break every two hours while working. Sitting in front of the computer for long, I usually feel soar in the neck and shoulders, which must be the signal given by the body. Some of my colleagues told me that the symptoms can be alleviated by simply sparing few minutes to take a cup of coffee in the restroom and stretch arms and legs. Also from the perspective of a doctor, it takes effect in improving blood circulation. In addition, I am thinking of climbing stairs instead of taking elevators. I remember when I visited a doctor last time, he told me that every single step we climb will help us increase lifespan for seven seconds. Finally, my one year membership with the fitness club near my office will due soon, but I have not visited it for months. What a pity! It is time to spare at least half an hour per day after work to make good use of my membership. In fact, to make those changes come true does not take too much time or energy.
In the third place, personally, changing foods and releasing pressure are not good options. I am not the one who cooks in the family, so it is not me to decide the menu of the day. Moreover, there are not many choices available for lunch near my office. The one hour break only allows me to grab some fast food, such as hamburgers and pizzas. In fact, the pressure from work now is necessary for me to further improve professional skills, which are vital for promotion. As a new employee of the present company, I should work hard and strive to be a valuable member. So, stress relief is not feasible.
In a nutshell, I will spend more time on doing sports to improve health. It is not only because doing exercises is simple and effective, but also because it is the major factor causing my potential health problem.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement: students nowadays are more interested in politics than in the past.
范文:
The freedom of expression is a fundamental right enshrined in Constitution, including people’s political opinions. In fact, people in democratic countries are encouraged to participate in politics, especially votes. Today, even the young generation, students, also show more interest in politics than in the past.
In the first place, teachers today play a more important role in helping students to form their political opinions than before. Nowadays, it is free for teachers to express their political opinions in the class and many of them would like to share their thoughts with students. Teachers can organize group discussion on political issues by which they expect to inspire students to think, develop critical thinking, improve communication and negotiation skills, and learn to tolerate people holding different or even opposite perspectives. For example, when the government banned the free plastic bags in supermarkets, my nephew’s teacher used to lead them to discuss the pros, like reducing white pollution, and cons, like increasing the sales of plastic rubbish bags. But in the past, teachers were merely encouraged to focus on students’ academic study due to the pressure of standard tests.
In the second place, thanks to the propaganda of mass media and the connection of Internet, it is easier for students to acquire information on politics, to openly discuss politics and even to take part in political events. Actually, politicians are clear how important it is for their party to win support from young generation who will become their determined backers or bitter opponents in the following decades. Thus, there is propaganda of various forms targeting students, such as speeches on campus, slogans on billboards and discussion on Internet. Students, captured by politicians’ points and the bombast of media, will join the discussion and events. Take the presidential election as an instance. Most candidates would arrange their visit to universities where they give speeches and explain the policies they will follow, especially those closely related to students’ interests. Also, politicians are adept in how to lead opinions on social media, like Facebook and Twitter. However, students in the past had limited access to political information and no platform to have their voice heard.
To sum up, it is obvious that students are more interested in politics than before because of teachers’ guidance and power of propaganda.

Many filmmakers make movies based on books. some people prefer to read the book before they watch the movie, while other people prefer to watch the movie before they read the book. which one do you prefer?
Since the invention of movies about one century ago, general publics have shown extraordinary passion and enthusiasm on this way of entertainment. It is very common to find a cinema crowded with audiences coming to watch the newly launched movie starring their idols or telling a story written by a famous author. In my mind, if possible, it is more meaningful for people to read the book on which the movie is produced before going to the theater.
Admittedly, without reading the book in advance, audiences still can fully enjoy the movies. For modern citizens, time is a commonly mentioned excuse: they are too busy to spare enough time to read. As study and work has occupied most of their time, they feel even not enough time to have a rest. Also, thanks to the improvement of movie making techniques and directors’ skills, audiences usually regard watching movies as a better way to enjoy a story. For example, the movie of The Great Gatsby lasts about two hours, starring Leonardo and boasting fantastic party scenes. But, it costs people months to finish reading the book.
However, for great works of famous authors, it is definitely worthy for people to read books before watching movies. To begin with, the reading of the original story enables us to have better understanding of the movie and to assess the movie more objectively. By reading books beforehand, audiences have more information on backgrounds of events and personalities of characters. This allows people to judge whether the director and actors are successful in telling the story. Even, some authors’works are by nature very challenging for directors to film. With huge efforts, the movie is still obscure and abstruse. Without reading the book, it is unfair for audiences disappointed by the movie to criticize the author. Take Here the Wind Sing written by Haruki Murakami as an example. If audiences haven’t read the book before, they can hardly understand those behaviors of Japanese young adults and be bored by insipid trivial matters in the movie.
Secondly, the reading of the book in advance allows audiences to be more critical while watching the movie. It is unavoidable that people may have divergent interpretation of the book. Bearing in mind the story, we are able to examine whether the movie will strike a chord in our heart or enlighten us with different revelation. Especially for die-hard fans, to watch a movie based on a book of their beloved author is just like to have a discussion with the director and actors on the contents or even details. Take the movie Into the White Night based on the book of Higashino Keigo as an example. The author is very successful in depicting criminals’ mental activities and creating conflicts, while the movie emphasizes much on cruel criminal activities to catch eyeballs. By reading the original story, we even can assess whether the actor and actress is successful in shaping characters.
To sum up, although watching movies without reading original books saves people much time, it is actually much more enjoyable to read in advance.

Frequently, parents are placed in a dilemma on children’s pocket money: how much money should they give and how frequently should they give? It is surely not a good idea to disappoint children, but parents have the concern whether children spend the money wisely. In my mind, a better solution is to make a deal with children that they will get certain amount of pocket money weekly and then they are supposed to learn how to manage the money.
To begin with, it is natural that children need money. At school, they sometimes may feel hungry between mealtimes and want to buy food from vending machines. Or, they suddenly find that they leave their stationeries at home and need to buy a new pen and notebooks. In addition, money is also needed for children’s social activities after school, such as toys and tools. All these are reasonable causes for children to spend money. For example, most students would like to buy a bottle of cold beverage after doing sports together, especially during summer time. On the contrary, without money in pocket, a child will feel embarrassing to sit around peers holding Coca-Cola and consciously avoid such occasions even by rejecting to participate in sports activities.
Secondly, by giving certain amount of pocket money regularly, parents are able to teach children wealth management. The reason why parents are reluctant to give children money is that they doubt whether children will squander the money on useless or even harmful commodities, like junk food. To prevent children from wasting money, parents can require them to keep accounts. Moreover, as the regular pocket money is the only source of incomes, children will be encouraged to purposefully restrict their purchasing behavior and even make budgets, which is beneficial for their whole life. For instance, the habit of saving a small amount of money weekly for months to buy a desirable gift enables them to manage wealth for important investments, like automobiles and houses, after they begin to work and become financially independent. When children get accustomed to having pocket money weekly and are able to make ends meet, it is time for parents to give them money monthly.
To sum up, it is necessary for parents to give children pocket money weekly, as children need money in both school life and social life. Also, to give pocket money is an effective way to teach children how to manage wealth.

To enrich experience and expand outlook, youngsters have many options, including volunteer jobs, part-time jobs and community activities. Among all these choices, paid part-time jobs are especially beneficial for students aging from 16 to 19 who need the money to partially realize financial independence and accumulate work experience.
To begin with, the income from part-time jobs, though not much, allows students to have some money at their own disposal or even alleviate economic pressure of the family. It is natural that students at this age need money for both their school life and social life. At school, they may want to buy a book unavailable in the library that a teacher mentions in the class. After school, money is also needed for students to pay for social activities and parties, such as food, tools, tickets and membership dues. However, it is more or less embarrassing to frequently ask for money from parents who are economically stressful. Therefore, the money students earn from part-time jobs can easily solve the problem. For instance, by working in the Starbuck near school for one semester, the student is even able to save enough money for the summer camp which otherwise is unaffordable for parents.
Secondly, the paid part-time job seems the best way for students to acquire work experience and nurture sense of responsibility. Undoubtedly, money paid by employers serves as the powerful incentives that encourage students to make more efforts. In particular, when their performance is praised or punished, they will have better understanding of professional ethics and job responsibility. All these are beneficial and meaningful for students’ future career development. For instance, by working in a restaurant as a waiter, the student is able to improve communication skills, obtain knowledge of catering industry, and cultivate service awareness. The tips earned from customers are clear indicator of their performance and effective incentive bonus for better services. This experience enables the student to be more competitive in future job market.
To sum up, it is meaningful for students aging from 16 to 19 to earn money from part-time jobs, so as to achieve financial independence and accumulate work experience.

To improve public health is one of the most important functions of modern governments. Each year, governments allocate huge resources to help citizens maintain good health. Among all the measures governments have taken, to solve the problem of environment pollution is regarded by some officials as the most important one. In my mind, among all factors posing a threat to people’s health, environment pollution definitely ranks top and should be addressed timely.
To begin with, the air pollution enveloping major cities has caused many diseases among the public. The level of PM2.5 in the air elevates frequently, especially during wintertime. It is inescapable for people to breath in those find particles doing harm to their respiratory system, as they walk on the street or sit in the office. The polluted air also prevents people from doing exercises outdoors, which further weakens people’s immune system. In addition, another invisible killer in the air is ozone during summertime, also called photochemical pollution. The chemical reaction of exhaust emission from automobiles catalyzed by sunlight also harms people’s respiratory system. In a word, the air pollution has become a serious threat on public health and its negative impacts may last for decades. It is high time that governments clean the air that people rely on for existence.
Secondly, the population living in seriously contaminated areas is on the rise. Guided by obsolete concepts, government officials of some regions have not realized the significance of sustainable development and purse economic growth at the expense of environment. Factories that fail to meet the standard of environment protection are still working at full strength, by emitting toxic air to the sky and dumping industry wastes to local water system. As a result, the food and water resources of people living near those factories are seriously affected. In the long run, pollutants people absorb in through breathing and daily diets will cause severe diseases, such as cancer. This is happening in too many places. Rich people are able to move to a new place without pollution, but for poor people, they have no choice but suffering from the hurts. To help those people, governments need to enact strict laws to regulate behavior of factories.
To sum up, measures should be taken to protect environment, in order to improve people’s health care. At this time, to clean the environment is definitely the issue of top priority that governments ought to address.

Over the last few decades, the world has witness unprecedented population explosion, as the result of peace, economic growth and scientific advancement. As the increase gradually becomes uncontrollable in some regions, problems associated with population appear on our overburden earth, like starvation, poverty, diseases, and even conflicts. To address these issues, some governments refer to some modern agriculture methods to increase crop yields, though at the expense of environment. In my mind, this is irresponsible.
To begin with, the wide application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, a common practice encouraged by some governments to boost yields, generates pollution and makes the soil infertile gradually. It is true that at the very beginning, crops grow faster and bigger in size with ample nutrients from the fertilizer and with most pests killed. However, this cannot last for long. The deposited chemical components of fertilizers and pesticides contaminate the soil and water system. As a result, the soil will lose its ability to store nutrients for plants and become barren. Even worse, farmers who want to maintain the level of yields may put more fertilizers in the land, which form a vicious cycle. It is the same with the pesticides as pets gradually develop the ability to resist the poison and farmers spray more pesticides. In the long run, the over use of fertilizers and pesticides can just exacerbate poverty and hurt the arable land.
Secondly, the irresponsible reclamation of land from nature also can hardly help people provide enough food in the long term. With the improvement of tools, people become more powerful to acquire more land by cutting down trees, draining wetland, and planting around lakes or rivers. The expansion of farmland surely enables people to harvest more crops. However, we can hardly overlook the fact that the reclamation poses threat to local ecosystem. With the equilibrium of ecological chain destructed, people cannot realize sustainable development, which means environment deterioration or even disasters. For example, Chinese government has banned farmers from planting near Po Yang River in south China, as the planting of crops has led to the decline of fish and frog.
Thirdly, another even more dangerous practice is the spread of genetically modified food. There are already numerous farmlands and experimental fields planting genetically modified food, like soybeans and corns. Until now, there is no scientific research result that can prove the absolute safety of GM food, and many people worry about the potential threats. At this stage, what we are sure about is the plantation of GM crops do contaminate local environment in an uncontrollable and irreversible way: the spread of pollen by wind or animals. It means with one piece of land growing GM crops, the land surrounding can hardly be immune. Therefore, it is irresponsible to apply such dangerous practice without clearly knowing the downsides and corresponding solutions.
In a nutshell, though at present the shortage of food for growing population is a serious threat to our world, it is unwise to adopt agriculture methods that endanger environment. We need to find environment friendly solutions to this problem, so as to realize sustainable development.
modern agriculture methods damage the environment, but providing food for the growing population around the world is more important than protecting the environment.

For most students, the first year in university is particularly challenging, due to the mounting pressure of academic study and busy campus life. In consideration to students’ difficulties, measures should be taken to assist students to achieve success in university. In my opinion, to guarantee the high quality education in high schools is more effective than providing university tutors’ individual instruction and encouragement from family and friends.
In the first place, the time spent in high school is critical for students to effectively prepare for the study in university or college. With the guidance of excellent teachers, students are able to obtain basic knowledge and nurture good study habit. A professional teacher plays an important role in conveying knowledge, arousing students’ interests, inspiring students to think and encouraging hard work. With effective preparation in high school, students will feel comparatively easier to catch up in university. For example, before university, it is necessary for a student to develop certain study skills, such as note taking, essay writing, and time managing. All these are essential for them to cope with subjects that are more demanding in university.
Secondly, neither tutors’ individual instruction nor encouragement from family and friends can feasibly help students achieve academic success. Given the large number of students in a department, it is difficult for tutors to spare enough time to help each student. Possibly, students will have troubles making appointment and tutors will complain the extra burden. In addition, although encouragement is vital for students, family and friends can hardly provide any practical suggestions. Cheered up by beloved ones, students are still feeling confused and having no idea how to solve problems in study.
To sum up, the high quality education in high school is the key for students to succeed in university. On the contrary, tutors’ help as well as families’ and friends’ encouragement turn out to be less effective.

It happens that we may carelessly ignore some people’s feeling and suddenly realize how important they are in our life after we lose them. To prevent it from happening, people adopt different strategies, even including keeping distance. In fact, a better way to understand and improve relationship with important people in life is to spend more time with them.
Admittedly, by keeping distance with people we believe we have strong ties with, we will make clear how the life is with their absence. Living a life without them, we may fail to perform well and start to make mistakes. The feeling of strong emotional attachment proves they are indispensable. For instance, the end of friendship with an old friend will help us realize without him, we have no one to have a drink together on Friday night. However, in this way, when we finally realize the significance of relationship, we may already do harm to it and it may be too late for us to make up.
In fact, by keeping distance, we lack necessary communication that is important for us to better understand each other and consolidate mutual trust. As social animals, we have to deal with various complicated relationship with people around us, including family members and friends. It seems difficult to distinguish who is more essential. Without sharing of thoughts and experiences, we can hardly know whether we have same attitudes towards life, social events, interpersonal relationship, etc.The similarity between us is usually the foundation of a long-term relationship. For example, only through communication can an optimism person find people around them possessing positive attitudes towards troubles, and he needs their encouragement and inspiration.
In addition, the absence in life of people we believe important, especially their critical moments, is usually considered by them as disrespect and indifference. This is surely baneful for the relationship. In fact, to strengthen ties with people we care about, we ought to spare more time to accompany them. No matter what people we care about are experiencing, they need accompany from trustworthy ones, such as sharing of their happiness, supporting of their decision, and comforting of their failure. The time spent on accompanying is the most valuable investment one can make and the most precious gift one can give. For instance, to show up in friend’s birthday party, graduation ceremony or promotion party is more important than sending expensive presents.
To sum up, to keep distance or to leave far away is definitely not the right choice for us to understand people we care about. Actually, it is more advisable for us to communicate and to accompany.
Some people believe that spending time away from the people we care about helps us improve our relationships with them, because being away from these people makes us realize how important they are to us. Other people believe that to improve our relationships with people we care about, we should spend as much time with them as possible, because spending time apart can damage or harm a relationship. Which view do you agree with, and why?

In order to make freshmen adapt to college life, which one is more helpful?
1. Attending a one-week orientation or introduction program when you are in the university campus and it will begin before you have the classes.
2.Meeting regularly at your first year with a student in your major field who has entered the university for several years.
Task 1
1. Attend photograph show(看展览)
2. 听lecture
Jojo
Jojo

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In the past people ate food that was better for their health than they do today. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
How would you like to learn about other cultures if you cannot travel there? Would you like to read books and watch films, or form a chatting group with local people?
Task 2
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Class assignments that are handed in after the deadline should always receive lower grades.
我会选择to watch a film。

Do you agree or disagree with the statement: students nowadays are more interested in politics than in the past.

Jojo
Task 1
Task 2
